To create a chignon you will need the following products:
- Brush
- Sectioning comb
- Hair tie
- Grips
- Hairspray
- Hair Net
- Accessories to add into the hair
- V Grips
Step by Step:
- Brush the hair thoroughly to remove any knots and tangles.
- Section the hair behind the ears and secure out of the way.
- Brush the hair into a low ponytail.
- Create a small amount of backcomb at the top of the ponytail if the hair is quite thin. This will create a thicker base to work with.
- Roll the ends of the ponytail up to the head and secure with grips.
- Use hairspray to smooth down any fly away bits.
- To smooth down the hair and create a nice finish, put a hair net over the bun matching the models hair colour.
- Use v-grips to secure the net into place.
- The front sections that have been placed out of the way can be styled into any way and then secured over the bun. For my example I have plaited the hair.
- Place accessories into the hair to make the style more interesting. The chignon is a perfect style for weddings and proms.
